Making new friend

Last time we went to dimsum for grandpa day with my dad, Chocho made a new friend with some kid who was sitting just next to our table. He is about 3-4yrs old (we're only guessing here) and he loved playing with Chocho. We enjoyed watching them interact with each other, and we were also happy that the kid kept Chocho busy so we were able to eat! We did notice that Chocho's head is almost as big as that kid's head! But there is quite a height difference still. Chocho's pediatrician did say that Chocho is the size of a 14-15 month old baby right now, and he is 9months old today. At 26lbs & 79cm, he continues to break my back.

Crawling...finally...

All this time, Chocho has been doing various moves on his belly, but he hasn't been able to crawl forward yet. Like in bed, he gets quite restless and would always move around all the time, flips to his belly and back to his back, turns around and flips again and so on and so on. He has been sleeping in different positions as well lately. Now he actually likes to sleep on his side whereas before he would always be sleeping on his back.

I've also noticed that he's a little more brave at reaching out for things while sitting down. He was always a little timid at trying to reach for things that are only a little bit out of his way. This is because he didn't have the stability that he has now, and he was afraid to fall, which happened quite often. Now he is not afraid to lift his little big butt off the ground to reach a little farther. Sometimes he still falls, but he doesn't cry as often as before when he did fall.

There are other things that he's learned in the last couple of months. Like pulling his feet up to his mouth. Yep, he likes to suck on his toes. What's worse is when we put his sandals on, he actually likes to chew on them. He's learned to wave, although it looks more like a really messed up version of the queen's wave. He's learned to extend his foot up to my face so that I would give it a kiss. He loves to check himself out in the mirror and he would start talking to himself. ("How YOO dough'in??") He's also learned to walk, thanks to his intellitainer play station unit. We wondered if he would be one of those babies who would start walking without learning to crawl first.

But today, the day he turns 9 months, he's finally starting to crawl, forward. =) He's been trying to crawl, but just hasn't gotten the techniques yet. Everytime he tries, he would move backwards instead. I guess because he pushes with his arms while his legs aren't doing anything. But today he finally tried to use his legs to push forward. Because he hasn't really mastered the art of crawling yet, he still looks funny and weird, but at least he's successful at moving forward, slowly. Too bad I didn't have the camera handy at the time. I was too busy praising (and laughing at) him. So cute. He's finally trying to move around. But that's also bad news. He's the kind of guy who wouldn't stop moving especially once he learns something new.

Father's Day

Father's Day was last week. This is technically my second Father's Day, although last year, our little Chocho was still in Cat's tummy. Even last year I got a gift though -- a poem in a frame, that read :

NOT HERE YET
I'm in the womb! I'm sad to say
that I will miss this father's day
But where I am I'll think of you
As I am what I am because of you!
Because you're my dad........and my best mate!

That poem touched my heart, and I still keep it beside my bed.

This year's Father's Day was a busy one for Chocho! Lunch with Cat's dad, afternoon with my dad, and the rest of the day with his own dad.

Chocho and Mommy gave me a gift this year too! A collage of photos of Chocho and I in Milne Dam Park! Very nice..

We had dinner at Swiss Chalet... Chocho wore his tropical shirt for the occasion, and he was on his best behaviour! No "hooh"ing at girls this time! :)

When the day was done, Cat and Chocho declared that they didn't get enough time to spend with Daddy, so they declared today an extension of Daddy Day... We drove to a provincial park near Kingston called Sand Banks and splashed around in the water a bit, but we didn't stay long because the bugs were really "bugging" us.

On the way home, we stopped by "The Big Apple" to buy some pies.

Okay, well it's getting late.. Good night!

Birdie Budgie

Yesterday when I was outside with my parents who were picking weeds, a blue visitor flew in and stuck around with us for a long time. He is a pretty friendly blue budgie bird!

Lunch with Uncle Ka & Aunty Corrie

Last Friday we had lunch with Ka & Corrie at the wonton noodle place by 7/Bayview. Uncle Ka brought his big (& very expensive) gun and started shooting really nice pix. The noodle was yummy, but the pictures were yummier! Thanks for the pix, uncle Ka!

Bald Is Beautiful

A couple of weeks ago we went to Edwards Garden just to stroll around. It was quite chilly, didn't realize it was not as warm until we stepped out of the house. So I quickly grabbed Chocho's hat so that his little bald head would stay warm.

Chocho hates wearing hats, though. Everytime we put one on him, he would always pull it off. Not sure why, it's not like his hats are tight fitting or anything, I guess this blue one I brought for him that day looks kinda... girly. But it didn't look girly at the store!!?!? Anyways, it wasn't just that particular blue hat, he basically hates wearing one in general.

As you can see below, in the first picture he was trying to pull off his hat...... I have to end this post now as he is *pushing*, his face is turning red, too. =D Darn it, where is my camera??!! Poopie time.

Mat-leave almost over... =(

Booo.... my maternity leave is almost over. I cannot believe how time flies just like that. I still remember the day I went into labour, I remember exactly what I was wearing, what the delivery room looked like.., it was room no.10! I remember pressing the epidural tube many times towards the end just to make sure that I wouldn't feel any kind of pain whatsoever when Chocho was coming out.... But gosh, all of that is already almost a year away.

I'm going to have to go through another adjustment when I go back to work. I'll be running for the last GO train going downtown... I won't be able to naps during the day... No more watching Sesame Street in the morning and Oprah in the afternoon... But most of all, I won't be with Chocho every minute of the day anymore. And by the time I come home from work, I probably won't have that much time left to play with him before he goes to bed, assuming he keeps his night time schedule...

But I guess it's all for the best. My sad bank account needs to be filled after all. =) One day Chocho will understand.
