Happy 2nd Birthday Nicky!
Yes, my baby has turned 2yrs old on Wednesday. That means Mike & I have been parents for 2 years now. I cannot believe, once again, how fast time passes by. On Wednesday morning, I cannot help but look at my watch often while I was on the GO train on my way to work. I kept having flashback to the morning I was trying to push this giant baby out of me, and I failed. Poor guy had to get vacuumed out and had to live with a cone head for a couple of days. (Sorry, Nicholas. I tried hard to get you out the natural way!) But when the time turned 8.20am, that was when we met him for the first time. It was a very special moment for both of us, and also a very relieving one for me! 8.20am, that was when we got promoted to be parents, our parents to be grandparents, and our siblings to be aunts and uncles. Wow...! It's like, all of a sudden we all got old!
Sadly, this year Nicholas had to celebrate his second birthday with a flu. The day before the birthday, we wanted to take him out to Toys R Us for him to choose his own gift. Instead, we took him to the doctor because his fever was too high. We didn't even have a birthday party planned out for him this year, we thought we would keep it low key until he actually starts requesting to have a party for every birthday.
Mike still keeps his family tradition of baking a homemade cake. Even though Nicholas was sick, he still worked very hard in the kitchen and whipped up a cake for his son. He even decorated it very nicely, with impressive writing. (Even I can't keep my writing nicely like that on a cake!) Nicholas, you may not know this now, but your dad loves you very much. He knew you weren't feeling well, but he still tried really hard to give you a nice birthday. He also knows how much you love blowing candles, that's why he baked you a cake.
Happy 2nd Birthday Nicky! (he's starting to call himself Nicky now) Thank you for the wonderful 2yrs, and we look forward to seeing you grow up and be a part of your life.
Luv,
Mama & Dada

"Uncle Ka" & "Aunty Co-wee"
Last week Uncle Ka & Aunty Corrie visited us after coming back from their trip to the Ex. Chocho was a little bit cranky before they arrived, but he was all joyous again when he saw aunty Corrie. Initially he had his doubts, but he warmed up to aunty Corrie quite quickly this time. He followed her around and played with her the whole time. He did play with Uncle Ka as well, mainly so he could get to his camera. :) Since Chocho has started to be able to pronounce more words and call people by names, Mike decided to teach him to pronounce Ka & Corrie's names. Of course, he got Ka's name just like that. But he wasn't responding to "Corrie". Maybe he was still figuring out how to say it...
That night when he was in bed, he couldn't fall asleep for a while. He kept talking to himself in his bed and suddenly he blurted out "unca Ka". I was like, wow! I can't believe he can actually say "uncle". That's amazing! Usually I'd have to repeat words often enough for him to absorb it, but not this time. The days went on and he kept saying "Uncle Ka"...
Then I tried to teach him to say "Corrie". Finally he said it. "Co-wee". "Aunt Co-wee". So now it's complete. Uncle Ka & Aunt Co-wee. He's set for December!
What if he zooms down the aisle in his Incredible PJs? :)
