Daddy daycare?

How do dads handle feeding lunch to a sleepy baby? Here's how Dada does it.

Asleep at the wheel

Jasmine is so tired from partying so hard on the weekend at her big brother's party, she fell asleep at the wheel yesterday... :) Make sure this doesn't happen to any of you!

Happy 4th Birthday Chocholas!!!

Another year has gone by and we're now another year older... It feels like we get older faster with these kids around.

This year, most of Chocho's friends from daycare held their birthday parties at indoor playgrounds. Whenever Chocho comes home from one of those parties, he would always speak fondly about his experience. He keeps asking if his birthday was coming soon and "how much longer it takes to get to his birthday", if that makes sense. So, this year we decided to throw him a party & invite his friends as well. We rented a party place for 2hrs for the kids to run around and play like they've never played before. Nicholas' hair got all wet (from sweat) in the first 10min of getting there!

On his birthday, we went to Rain Forest Cafe for dinner. It was Jassie's first time seeing all the animals and experiencing the thunderstorm. Both kids startled when the elephants started moving and making noise, but luckily they didn't cry. We also saw Nemo (wearing a black pantyhose) there. :)

Dada baked him a cake at home and decorated it as a basketball. Unfortunately we don't have very good tools but he managed to draw a tiny McQueen on his cake. :)

Happy 4th Birthday Nicholas!

Chocho goes to school

Well, Chocho is starting a new chapter in his life! He started Junior Kindergarten this week. We have been prepping him up for this since we were worried that he would react the same way he did when he first started his daycare and his ball class this past summer. Luckily, he was very good. In fact, he was too good. It was too good to be true! When we walked him to his class, he walked straight into his classroom, sat down in the circle on the floor with the other kids. He turned around once, smiled, waved. That's it. Dada & I looked at each other, looked at Chocho, looked at each other. We were shocked, and speechless. We were standing around infront of his class for a bit before we left, just incase he decided to change his mood. Luckily his teacher came out to meet with us so we didn't look funny standing around doing nothing! :)

The first day of school for him was very short, only 2 hours long. It was a day where his teacher, Miss Jeffery, gets to meet all the children, and introduce them to the classroom routine. Chocho was back at home by lunch time. He didn't even bring any bags or anything to school, meanwhile some of his classmates had their bag packs with them! (such little keeners!)

Now that he is in real school, we have to pack him lunch and snack for him to eat. I never had to worry about packing him any food because his daycare provides food and drink for him. Today I made him grilled cheese sandwich, and I added ham and egg as well. I also gave him some slices of cucumbers since he likes cucumbers. He also got some grapes and jello snackpacks for dessert. I'm very pleased that all were eaten except for the Jello. He said that he didn't eat the jello because he wasn't able to open it, and that his teacher wasn't in the class while they were eating so he couldn't ask her to help. Poor guy! But at least he ate everything else. This is going to be a challenge for me, to always come up with nutritious finger food ideas that he will like to eat!

Chocho will also be travelling to/from his school with a school bus. Today he rode the school bus home for the first time. There is a school bus monitor that takes all the little kids and direct them into their appropriate school bus. Dada & I were very excited to pick him up today and we made sure that we wouldn't be late to pick him up. Unfortunately when we waited for him to come out, he never showed up. I thought maybe he missed the bus. The driver told Dada to come into the bus and to check every single seat for Chocho. He found Chocho sitting alone almost in tears. :( Not sure why he was that way, and he didn't really say why either. He didn't end up crying, and he said that he had a good day at school. Maybe he feels different now because he is no longer the big fish in a little pond. He is now a little fish in a big pond. Hopefully he will be able to swim well in his new pond. :)

Chocholas, here's what you ate on your very first day of school, Friday, September 11, 2009. (In case you're wondering about it in the future) :)

Labour (Father's) Day Weekend 2009

Since we didn't get a chance to celebrate Father's day last June for Dada, we finally were able to celebrate it yesterday.

We went to Centreville for the first time with the kids, and the weather couldn't be any better. It was nice and sunny but not too hot at all.

Chocho got on so many rides. He went driving a couple of cars by himself, he went on the swan ride with Dada, on the wet log ride with Mama, and we all went on the train together. Jassie loved the train ride. She was all smiles all the way.

We also saw some snowbirds flying. They were really loud, didn't think they were THAT loud! But they are very cool. Too bad we didn't get a good shot of them together.

We had so much fun that Chocho wanted to go again really really soon. :)

Here we are hitting the first hotdog stand we saw. yum...street meat good... :)

Here's one of the really loud planes:
