Family Trip 2009

Since I'm on my mat leave, we decided to head down to Indonesia once again so that we can introduce Jasmine to all my relatives over there. This is Chocho's second trip down to Indonesia, but he doesn't know it because the last time he went he was only about 9 months old, just like Jasmine today.

We've been prepping him up the last few days, just so he knows that he's about to get on a very long plane ride and he was actually very excited. He kept counting down the days and kept asking if it's almost time to get on the plane yet.

So finally yesterday we boarded onto the plane and Chocho was a very excited boy.

We had a couple of glitches, though. The first ride out of Toronto was scheduled for 8am to Chicago. But since we were too slow to leave the house, we were actually late for our flight! They rejected us on the flight right at the ticket counter even before we went into US customs. They told us that we would have to come back the next day to catch another flight out, but lucky for us, there was another flight out to Chicago 2hrs after ours and there were room for us to get on. BIG relieve!

Chocho was super excited to be on that plane. He couldn't stop giggling when the plane finally took off and was up in the air. Jasmine on the other hand, slept through take off. But was awake a few times later on.

On the longer flight to Tokyo, we were very lucky we were sitting next to a very child friendly lady heading to Manila. She was actually babysitting Chocho for a while, playing with his cars and trains, helping him with his TV and dinner! She even took him to the washroom to wash his hands, etc.

When we were in Indonesia, the weather was very hot, sticky, and the mosquitoes made it all that more fun every night! Despite the weather though, we had a great time wherever we went to while we were in Indonesia. Chocho and Jasmine kept going swimming both in Semarang and Bali. When we were in Bali, Chocho got to see some monkeys and was playing at the beach alot. We were afraid that Chocho wouldn't like it over there, and that he'd be homesick. But we didn't end up using much of the toys and books I brought from home for him, since he kept getting new toys from everyone and was always at the mall playing at the timezone playground! In fact, he did not want to come home in the end. But luckily he co-operated.

Now we're back home again and Chocho is now practicing his writing everyday since he will be starting kindergarten next month. He still talks about everyone over there and everything he did while he was there. And he cannot wait until the next time we go back there to see everybody again... :)
