Obama Inauguration 2009

Like many, I am very excited for Obama & for the US today.

Honestly, I have never watched any Presidential Inauguration in the past, until today. I never even knew that such an event was so big! But since Obama came to surface, I began to follow the news. He brings change, praise, and most certainly hope. There is alot that is expected out of him and it is amazing to see that the entire world stand behind this man. I think it is because of his genuine character and his determination to bring a much needed change that wins him everybody's vote. I certainly hope he can helpt to restore the global financial crisis, but most importantly, I hope that him being the first African American President will help to diminish racism and bring equality to all. I hope that our children & great/grandchildren will be able to live in such a place where everyone are equal & not viewed by their colour.

I had the opportunity to watch the 2009 inauguration from start to finish with Jasmine at home, where it's nice & warm! I will never forget the inauguration of Barack Obama today. While watching a historic moment happening, I was on the couch wiping off Jasmine's poopie butt. As I was telling this to Mike over MSN, he says "What an amazing coincidence. It's quite symbolic really, the idea of "cleaning up". Obama cleaning the government, and you cleaning the baby butt!" :) At least I got to be a part of it. Hehehe... :)

Chocholas

Today, Nicholas is 3yrs, 3 months, 3 weeks, and 3 days old!

He's such a big boy now. He talks too much, knows too much, thinks he knows even more than you, tells you when you're wrong and when he's right, and doesn't agree into anything without you making a "deal" that benefits him in the end!

He still loves playing with his Thomas the train toys, and his Cars toys, and he loves to read books and sometimes reads stories for me instead & while telling his own version of the story.

He always goes to the library every Friday after school with Dada. Nicholas gets so excited that he tells everyone at school, how "Dada and I are going to the library later." When at the library, they both look for more Thomas books and even DVDs. They also like to read some of the books in the "reading castle" at the library. There is a big wooden castle where all the kids and their parents would sit together and read together. Friday is a special day for Chocho and he's always looking forward to it. He's always asks his dad "Is it the weekend?" and Dada would say "no, not in another 5 more days". The next day he'd ask again "Dada is it the weekend yet?", "No it's not", "How many more days?" "4 more", "oh". He'll keep asking till the weekend arrives!

Similar to most adults when talking to little babies, Nicholas likes to speak to Jasmine using his 'baby voice'. But recently we've also noticed that he likes to speak 'baby babbles' with Jasmine. We're not sure why, but perhaps it's because she speaks nonsense, so he needs to do the same so that their conversation would flow better...? :) "Ati-da-ba-da-bla! Abo-bloo!"

Today conversations with Nicholas makes sense...90% of the time:
Dada: "Finish your dinner please"
Chocho: "OK Dada, I'm going to finish my dinner"
Dada: "Good"
Chocho: "Because if I don't finish it, the car can crash?"
Dada: "???"

He can also get quite demanding:
Chocho: "I want some ice tea, too."
Dada: "I don't have anymore, I finished it, sorry."
Chocho: "Then don't finish it!"

It's amazing how far he's gotten the last 3 years. I guess at 11:23:03am today he would've been 3 yrs, 3 months, 3 weeks, 3 days, 3hrs, 3 minutes, 3 seconds old. :D

Here he is, all crummy looking after eating his happy meal.

Hairspa

Since it's really cold outside, Jasmine is getting pampered at home. She's getting another hairspa moment.

Nicholas & Jasmine

Nicholas would always look for Jasmine everytime he gets home from school. "Mama, where's Jasmine??" When he finally finds her: "JAAaaassss!!! Hi JAAaaasss!" By now Jasmine recognizes her big brother and his baby voice. So everytime he calls out, she'll look interested.

It's hard to get both to settle down for the camera, but managed to get these funny shots while we slept over at opa's (my dad's) house. They look so funny!!

Big head? - part II

Yesterday when I was undressing Jasmine, her shirt got stuck around her head. This reminds me of her brother, who has a big head, and would always find his shirt stuck on his head whenever he is trying to take it off. I know Jasmine's head is not big (she's not as big as he was when he was her age), but the shirt was stuck because she's outgrowing it I guess. It was definitely a Canon moment! ;) Notice how her mohawk is still there! And the round belly. How I love the round belly!!! :)

Little White Riding Hood

Jasmine got this cute little outfit from aunty Ivy & uncle Al recently but mama hasn't had a chance to put it on her since we all got sick for a while. Now that we're all ok, Mama decided to have a little fun with Jasmine. :)

Wobbly Baby

Jasmine is very responsive now. She likes to call us out by her coos while kicking her legs around. And when we give her our attention, she gets even more excited and kicks her legs around even more. She would also give you a smile, or even a chuckle!

Jasmine is getting big and tall! She used to be quite wobbly whenever we hold her up by our shoulder. There were a few times when she almost headbutt us because she was so wobbly. But now she's getting bigger and her neck is getting stronger. She's definitely less wobbly, and this actually makes Dada sad. :*( He wants her to stay small and wobbly longer. :) So do I, actually.

The Egg Family

Chocho has been drawing his family as eggs. He draws a Dada egg, Mama egg, Chocho egg, and Jasmine egg. He's very proud of his drawings that he made Dada take pictures of it. Can you see his drawings? :)

Random Conversations

Today when he came home from school, Nicholas bothered Dada for a sandwich.
Chocho: "Dada, I want sandwich please"
Dada: "We don't have any"
Chocho: "But I want to have some"
Dada: "Go talk to Mama. We don't have any"
Chocho: "Mama, I want sandwich please"
Mama: "I don't have any"
Choco: "But I want to feel better"
Mama: "I'm sorry but I don't have any bread"
Chocho: "NO! You said the wrong thing. I want sandwich, not bread"
Mama: "Ya but you need bread to make a sandwich"
Chocho: "No, you need a bun and put something in it and something on top of it"
Mama: "Are you telling me how to make a sandwich?"
Chocho quiet & went back to Dada
Chocho: "Dada I want sandwich please"
Dada: "But we don't have any bread. We have to buy bread first."
Chocho: "Buy it then!!!"
Chocho walked away mad.

Christmas Holidays 2008

December was such a busy month with Jasmine's baptism happening and Christmas preparation / celebration. This was Jasmine's first Christmas and already she got alot of gifts! Nicholas always enjoyed receiving and opening / ripping out presents. It was alot of fun celebrating with all our families & friends but we all got too tired from partying too hard (& too much) that we all ended up getting sick for New Years! We counted down in our dreams. :)

Now that the flu storm at home is over, we can finally go back to our normal lives & I can start blogging once more.

Happy New Year to all & hope you'll have a wonderful 2009!
