Ring Bearer

Earlier this month Nicholas finally completed his duty as Ka's & Corrie's ring bearer. I thought Mike would ended up being the ring bearer instead =), because we know that Nicholas is a pretty shy little guy and tends to get nervous when surrounded by alot of people he doesn't know. But at least he performed, and was willing to walk down the aisle with Mike. He did stop and goes to me as soon as he sees me sitting by the aisle taking pictures. Meanwhile, the Groom Uncle Ka was waving him and calling him endlessly in the front hoping that Nicholas would go to him.

At dinner time we shared our meals with the flower girl's family (Mercedes, Paul, & Patricia). Mercedes really wanted to be Nicholas' friend, and kept approaching him and talking to him that night. But Nicholas was shy once again and didn't talk to her back. Or maybe since he's already got a couple of girlfriends at school he thought he wouldn't be able to handle another one? hahaha... too many girls too hard to handle! I wish I have pictures of them together, but I was too busy laughing & enjoying the moment.

Congratulations once again, Ka & Corrie! Thanks for having Nicholas as part of your special day!

My Birthday

Another has gone by and I celebrated my 21st b'day last week. Nicholas & Mike gave me a nice b'day gift surprise, their pictures. =) They also have a video of themselves, but I'll have to have the file reduced first so we can upload it quickly.

It's funny because last year Nicholas wasn't even talking much and this year he must have wished me a happy birthday a million times. "Hap-peh buh-day Mu-mah". That's how it sounds. And he makes Mike sing the birthday song while he bops his head to the tune.

Rock a bye Baby!

Wonder if he'll start his own baby garage rock band soon?

More Random Conversations

While playing on my laptop:

Me: "Can I use my laptop, please?"
Chocho: "Don't touch! Mama no touching. My turn."

While watching Transformers on tv:
(during explosive action scenes)

Chocho: "O gawd!"
Mike: "What did you just say?"
Chocho: "uh-oh!" "Oh no!"
Mike: "Stop that!"

New Girlfriend

Today I am hearing new news from Nicholas' teacher. Apparently he has a new girlfriend, Cate. I wonder how his former girlfriend Emma feels about this. (Or maybe they're still together?) I guess when you're only 2yrs old you can get away by having multiple boy/girlfriends without getting into trouble.

Sounds like this relationship is going pretty well that they actually wanted to have their pictures taken together. Everytime I asked him if Cate was his girlfriend, he responded with a super confident nod!

It's quite interesting (and funny) to see my little Chocho doing these things. I never knew that the little pooper he once was (or still is, I guess) who only knew how to cry and eat and drool and be served, has developed interests, feelings, and has likes and dislikes, and is quite expressive about it, too!

Can`t wait to see what else he`ll come up with next.

Here are the pictures their teacher took, along with a note she left for Mike & I.

(I am not sure why he is posing funny in both shots. Maybe he wanted to get down to her height since he`s quite taller than she is).

Checking out the school

While waiting for Santa, we went to see Nicholas' class. It was neat to find things about him around the class. We found a few things on the Future Aces wall (the Future Aces is a proactive character building initiative which is followed by his school to reinforce positive behaviour). Apparently his teachers spotted him sharing his toy bike, tidying up, and helping someone.

We also found one of his art work displayed on the wall. Apparently it was an oatmeal painting.

A summer collage his teachers made: One of them was taken during "Hawaii week". You may notice Nicholas in there with his Hawaiian shirt on... =)

This is the beehive class (toddler room), minus the bees. ;)

They have pictures on their shoe drawers:

Richmond Hill Santa Claus Parade 2007

Last weekend we went to the Santa Claus Parade for the first time. Yes, it was the first time for Nicholas, for myself, and practically for Mike. He thinks he might have gone when he was very young, but since he doesn't remember it, it was just like his first time.

We didn't go to the downtown parade. I'm sure the downtown parade would've been much nicer, but it was good to not get stuck in traffic to get home. We were lucky that Nicholas' daycare is located right at Yonge St., and that it was open for the day just so that we could park there and watch the parade from the playground.

Here's the boys waiting for Santa patiently.

"There! There!"

"I see something coming!"

"High Five!"

Didn't know Snow White does Christmas! =)

We went inside to check out the daycare and I was about to get a hot chocolate when suddenly we heard "HO HO HO!". We kinda missed Santa, and were only able to catch a glimpse of his... butt.

Trip to the pediatrician

Last week Nicholas went to visit the pediatrician with Mike for another needle. He now knows enough to get upset even in the waiting room. He was quite nervous and started whining, asked to go home and looked for me. And of course, he cried as soon as his doctor stepped out to call him in. He stopped crying when they went home. At 97cm tall and 15kg, he is apparently the size of a 4yr old. Crazy.

Random Conversations

While Nicholas is watching Elmo:

Me: "Nicholas, can I have a hug?"
Chocho: "Chocho's beesee" (busy)

While Nicholas is getting ready for bed:

Me: "Nicholas, can I have a hug?"
Chocho: "Chocho's tie-yed" (tired)

While potty training:

Me: "Nicholas, are you done pooping?"
Chocho: "No luck"

While Mike is trying to sneak some veggies into Nicholas' food:

Chocho: "No green! No green!"
Mike: "It's not green, it's meat"

While Mike is trying to wake him up in the morning:

Mike: "Time to wake up, Nicholas."
Chocho: "OK! OK!" (said impatiently - then goes back to sleep!)

While Mike is trying to rush him out to go to school:

Mike: "Let's go or you'll miss breakfast if you're late"
Chocho: "Wait! Wait!"

While picking his own nose:

Chocho: "Yuck!" (the volume of the "Yuck" is proportional to the size of his booger)
or sometimes:
Chocho: "Oooo, big one"

And he's only 2 right now. What will he say when he's 15???!!!

Happy Halloween!

This year, we decided to take Nicholas out for trick or treating. He ended up having a blast! He dressed up as Dash from the Incredible as he`s got the Incredible PJ. Just like Dash, he was pretty fast. He zoomed from house to house and loved ringing the doorbell. Although he can`t say `Trick or Treat`just yet, he always says bye to everyone after he got his treat. We only went for about half an hour, the rest of the night, Chocho gave out candies at home to all the kids that came over. Including to the big teenagers!

Gearing up for December..

Nicky's going to be Ka and Corrie's ring bearer in December, so yesterday Cat found an outfit for him. We tried to snap a few pictures of him, but every time we tried, *he* wanted to take pictures instead! So we let him have the camera and used another one.. :)

Funnies Part Two

Now hold on just one minute! I made Cat dance in front of Nicholas, and he got just as mad!! "Stop!! Stop!!" he said.. :)

Either Cat dances just as badly, or Nicholas doesn't like anyone dancing!

Funnies

We had a good laugh yesterday when we first heard of Chocho's daycare romance... Today we found something else just as funny. Everytime Mike dances, Nicholas would get mad and say "stop stop!!" "Noo!! Noo!! No dance!" Ha ha ha!!!

A day in the life..

It feels like we've been taking Nicholas to daycare for a long time, but in fact, it's been less than three months. The daycare routine has been pretty consistent from my perspective -- I drop him off, and he cries because he doesn't want me to leave, and later, I pick him up, and he cries because he's relieved to see me.

The teachers tell me that the crying doesn't last long, and he has a great time most days, and I believe them, but I wish he could be happy from start to finish. He had a tough time for the past month while he battled the flu, and even missed some days at the daycare because his fever was too high. When he was finally over it, he seemed to regress a bit in his daycare comfort level because he seemed to cling to me more tightly when I dropped him off in the morning.

Slowly, he got back into his groove, and recently, I started noticing that he stopped crying when I picked him up after work. He still looked concerned, but he put on a brave face for me. Also, for the past 2 days, he didn't cry when I dropped him off either!

Today, one of the teachers told me something that made us all laugh. Apparently, Nicholas has a girlfriend now! He always seemed to get along well with the ladies, but a girlfriend at this age? :)

At nap time today, Nicholas insisted on moving his little cot. When the teacher let him do it, she saw that he set it up right beside one of the girls, Emma.

"Do you want to sleep beside Emma, Nicholas?" she asked Nicholas. Nicholas said yes.
"Do you want to sleep beside Nicholas, Emma?" she asked Emma. Emma said yes.

And so the two napped beside each other.

That's not all! Later in the day, they were sitting at separate tables, but Emma picked up her chair and set it down beside Nicholas!

"I want to sit beside Nicholas!" she said.

So there you have it, my boy is dating..

Nicholas has developed so much ever since he started going to daycare!

- He says "yes" and nods now. He learned "no" a long time ago.. :)
- He can now say and identify all the letters of the alphabet (although "W" is "bayayu"). Sesame Street gets most of the credit for that.
- He can count to ten with his fingers, except he won't say seven (no idea why).
- He can read the numbers 1-10, although again, he won't read seven. I think this is also mostly due to Sesame Street. He also recognizes the 10s, although everything is "n-teen" -- one teen, two teen, three teen, ...
- He knows Barney and Baby Bop (recognizes them and calls them by name). One day, when I came to pick him up, he was watching a Barney video in class, and he was so mesmerized by it that he didn't even notice me when I was standing beside him! He insists on playing Barney music in the classroom's CD player, and he even inserts the CD himself AND skips tracks until he gets to his favourite!! I can't remember if his favourite song is "I Love You" or "Baby Bop Hop".
- He knows colours (blue, red, yellow, black).
- He paints occasionally, and the teacher told me that he learned that combining two colours can make a third colour (she showed me his blue+yellow=green art).
- He knows "If you're happy and you know it", and "Row-row-row your boat". One day he got into one of our laundry baskets and started saying "row row row your boat"!
- He was already able to identify relatives, but he is starting to identify other people by name now. He calls one of his teachers "Shell" (Michelle).
- He has a girlfriend. I've seen other girls hug him, but this is the first time I've heard of him showing an interest in girls.

They grow up so fast, don't they.. :)

Trying to make Uncle Ka proud!

Someone needs to tell him about the lens cap!
